24 Hours In Miami
The plane was late. I arranged to have dinner with my staff at Seitei at 8:00 pm. It had to be an early night because we had the Today Show Plaza Ambush Makeover the next morning. Call time was 5:00am. I was nervous I would look like a Shar Pei puppy if I didn't get enough sleep. We didn't have time to check into the hotel, so I had the driver bring us directly to the restaurant and then drop the luggage off at the hotel. My staff would meet me at the restaurant. It worked- I made it on time, had a wonderful dinner, and even had enough time for a leisurely walk up Collins Avenue back to the hotel. I lost a few of the boys along the way. They made a side trip to the Delano and met a gorgeous pair of Russian twins. I reminded the boys of our early call time. They were on location on time, looking good and ready to work. I knew enough not to ask any questions the next morning!
We ambushed two women: Rachel who just gave birth to the sweetest baby girl three months ago and Karen who is in her early 60's and has the spirit of a much younger woman than her years.

There is nothing more exciting than having a newborn. There is nothing drearier than looking like you are a new mom. This is the perfect time for a makeover to look better than she ever did before she gave birth. When I met Rachel, she just had her hair highlighted to a very pale blond. Her hair had a black and white look even though her natural hair was a light brown. The highlights were left on long so they would look brighter, but instead they just looked grey! Adel cut her hair in a modern version of a layered Jennifer Aniston bob. I made her hair a warm brown, leaving out a few of her old highlights around her face. I put a warm wash of color over all of her hair to blend the colors together. The new mom look was now all but gone.
Karen had her curly hair colored very blond. The pale blond hair made her curly hair look dull and frizzy. She had a beautiful pale complexion with eyes as blue as the ocean. Her hair color needed dimension to accent her features. I instantly thought of my friend Susan Sarandon and I knew that red would be the color for her. The red hair made her hair skin color look flawless. Her fine lines disappeared. Her blue eyes turned sapphire. She looked like she was in her mid forties instead of her early 60's! Karen had a new persona and was ready to live life to its fullest.
It's too easy to make small changes to look great. Don't waste another moment. Look the best you can today. You will never look at life the same way again!

Louis,
The Ambush Make-over is one of my favorite parts of the Today show. My only question is, short of camping out on the plaza the morning of the show, how do I get one!!?? I am a stay at home mother of three in desperate need. In my previous life, I was a executive for a major jewelry retailer in NYC. I knew how to dress, how to make-up and accessorize. My self esteem and image was never an issue for me. I have found myself becoming more and more each day, the Long Island housewife I had always dreaded. I know my fine hair is probably much longer than it should be and overly processed. The thought of having the time to put on more make-up than a quick coat of mascara appeals to me but I don't know where to begin. The wardrobe, well let's just say my days of shooping for business wear at Saks are long gone! So please, how do I get Ambushed!!!!!!!
I am interested in having Adel cut and style my hair into the modern bob which she did for Rachel on the Miami Ambush episode.
Is she at a salon in Miami or did she come with you from NYC and may I have her contact info, please?
This was the first time I've ever seen the makeovers on the show as I am usually out of the house and on my way to the courthouse, having left the TV far behind.
Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you!
